Why You Should Join Us

Churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, and sacred spaces of all kinds dot the landscape of our region. While all religious communities aspire to be welcoming, it can be difficult for individuals to walk into an unfamiliar environment without a specific invitation. It is for this reason that the Interfaith Center launched Gateway to Religious Communities in January 2010.

Through this series, members of the public can register to visit a diversity of faith communities across the Greater Philadelphia area. Participants receive a tour of each congregation, attend a worship service, and engage with members of the religious community. Each Gateway visit concludes with refreshments and opportunities for questions and answers with the religious leader.

Gateway visits have included Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Baha’i, Mormon, Lenape Nation, and Sikh communities, and are set up to encourage neighboring communities to visit one another. Gateway to Religious Communities is proud to help open our city’s houses of worship to anyone seeking to broaden their knowledge of other faiths.
