Art of Interfaith Understanding: The Christmas Story in Art

REGISTER HERE

From the angel’s announcement to Mary to the Holy Family seeking refuge in Egypt, from angels and shepherds to St Nicholas of Myra, we will engage with art that tells the story of Christmas.

We will notice how each artist locates Bible stories in their own time and place, how artists use light, color, and perspective to communicate the supernatural glory of God’s incarnation, how Jesus’ birth fulfills earlier prophecy and foreshadows later events, and how symbols connect Jesus’ birth to important Christian teachings and practice.

Facilitator
Rev. John B. Hougen, PhD
, Coordinator of Interfaith Philadelphia’s series: The Art of Interfaith Understanding and a guide at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Register today! This program is limited to 16 participants.

Parking and admission to the museum are free thanks to the generosity of the PMA’s Office of Community Engagement.
