Trina A Gary, M.Ed.

Trina Gary is an experienced independent school educator, administrator, and leadership coach with a demonstrated history of working in schools to affirm identity, build community and cultivate inclusive practice and programs. Trina is the CEO and Principal Consultant of Brown-Gary Associates, LLC, and the Founder and Executive Director of Independent Trust, professional development, and social impact network of independent school alumni of color. Trina serves on several non-profit boards. She serves on the Board of Trustees at The Community Partnership School in Philadelphia, PA, Pomfret School in Pomfret, CT, and on the board of Innercity Lacrosse. During her tenure in four independent schools, Trina has held various administrative and faculty positions. She has served as Associate Dean of Faculty and Director of Multicultural Education, Associate Director of Admissions, academic advisor, and an instructor in English and history. Trina is also a member of the summer faculty of Diversity Directions (DD). She has also served as a member of the summer faculty of the Gardner Carney Leadership Institute (gcLi). 


Building and empowering collaborative teams focused on learning from and with diverse groups of people is a hallmark of Trina’s work. In Trina’s article, Building Connection: Establishing Alumni of Color Affinity Groups, published in the Winter 2021 edition of the NAIS Independent School magazine, she highlights the importance of collaboration in building community. 


Trina holds an M.Ed. in Leadership in Learning and Instruction from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, and a BA in Urban Studies with a concentration in Economics from Trinity College, Hartford, MA. When not working, Trina and her partner enjoy spending time with their three children and extended family.
