Sara Zebovitz

Executive Director

Sara Zebovitz is the Executive Director of Interfaith Philadelphia, where she works to help our region build the curiosity, understanding, and relationships for resilient communities. She believes religious diversity is an asset to be embraced and that understanding across difference creates the foundation for trust, belonging, and a thriving society.

Growing up in an extended interfaith family, Sara was always surrounded by people of different faiths. Yet despite celebrating holidays together, she rarely engaged more deeply with her relatives’ religious practices. When she participated in the first cohort of Interfaith Philadelphia’s Visionary Women program, she experienced firsthand the power of crafting curious questions to deepen relationships.

Sara served as the Associate Director at Interfaith Philadelphia prior to her appointment as Executive Director. Previously, Sara lived in Israel as a member of an urban kibbutz, a network of communes within the Dror Israel movement. During her time overseas, she worked in informal education with Israeli and North American youth, helping cultivate leadership, social responsibility, and a commitment to building a more unified and inclusive society.

Sara previously served as the Director of Habonim Dror North America, a Jewish youth movement focused on communal responsibility through a Jewish lens. In that role, she brought together Jewish youth from across the religious and political spectrum for dialogue and leadership development. These experiences reinforced her belief that curiosity leads to understanding, understanding leads to relationship, and relationships create a strong foundation on which communities can navigate difference with courage and care.

Sara leads the Mt. Airy Home Minyan, is a “Big” with Big Brothers Big Sisters, is a graduate of the 2023 Association of Fundraising Professionals Leadership Institute, holds a Certificate in Interfaith Leadership from Interfaith America, and serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Habonim Dror North America.

When away from her desk, Sara is most often cooking, crocheting, and cheering on Philadelphia’s sports teams.
