Peter Ahn

Facilitator

Peter Ahn is the Pastor at Olivet Covenant Presbyterian Church, located in the Fairmount/Spring Garden area of Philadelphia. He earned his B.Sc. from the Colorado School of Mines in 2004 and his M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 2011. As a Korean-American immigrant and a naturalized citizen of the United States, he calls himself an intentional citizen of the US.

Along with his colleagues, Peter has been organizing the Presbyterian Church (USA) communities in Philadelphia to address various forms of harm/violence reduction in the city. Beyond the Presbyterian realm, Peter is passionate about facilitating a safe and brave space to engage challenging but important topics. He is a trained facilitator in nonviolent communication, restorative justice work, and circle process. He participates in the planning team for the monthly meeting of the Philadelphia chapter of Coming to the Table. He is also a part of the Leadership Institute Facilitation Team (LIFT) at Interfaith Philadelphia, trained to facilitate various workshops such as Facilitating Civil Conversations and Navigating Difficult Conversations. As a pastor of a local congregation, he spends much of his time cooking and eating with people. In a digital world inundated with information and hyper-connection, he seeks to create analog spaces of dialogues, deep listening, and self-discovery.

Drawn to contemplate spirituality and spiritual formation, Peter is intentional about being in touch with music, art, nature, reverence, and wonder during a traffic jam. He regularly coordinates free concerts and exhibits in partnership with local artists and musicians to create spaces to slow down and breathe differently. Once in a while, you might find him street-performing on sidewalks with his own music.
