Interfaith Youth Neighborhood Mosaic

Thursday, April 5, 2018

The Interfaith Center recognizes the rich diversity of South Philadelphia. Through this exciting new initiative, 35 middle school-aged youth will spend one week expanding their understanding of those who are culturally and religious different from them.

By experiencing their community in a new way and learning about the cultural and faith traditions of their peers, particpants will be ready to embrace difference and naviagate their communities, schools, and beyond with understanding and an appreciation for one anothers’ identities.

Informed by the curriculum and over a decade of experience from its signature Walking the Walk Youth Initiative, the Interfaith Center will provide youth the place and space to learn about the vibrant diversity in their wider neighborhood while strengthening their own identity and leadership skills.

This summer program includes field trips to various local cultural and faith communities, educational workshops focused on leadership and communication, and the opportunity to engage in a week-long creative arts project as a way to express themselves and what they learn throughout the week.
