Mapping Assets and Exploring Lent at the Episcopal Cathedral

Sunday, February 19, 2017

On Sunday, February 19, our Visionary Women initiative gathered for its second session, this time hosted by the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral. While exploring the sacred space there, we were privileged to see the artwork of one of our participants, Won Choi, who is a renowned Philadelphia-area sculptor and Cathedral congregant.

Afterwards, the group learned more about the season of Lent through a presentation and discussion led by Rev. Sarah Hedgis. Finally, the group gathered for a community asset mapping activity where women were asked to come up with possible social justice actions/initiatives based on the assets that they bring to the group. Participants were asked to share one asset from their head, one from their heart, and one from their hands (and to put post-it notes describing those assets on their bodies!). It's no surprise that there was some lively discussion and many great relationships formed during this interactive activity.
