On October 19, the Interfaith Center will lead a tour and discussion at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where we will compare and contrast the artistic traditions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Each tradition has employed the arts gloriously to express its beliefs, inspire its adherents, and enhance its worship. We will see works of art related to holidays near the date of the tour (Sukkot, All Saints Day, and Muharram). We will view art which illustrates the intertwining of religions with host cultures, and how their creators interpreted the commandment against making graven images or likenesses.
