Peace Day Philly was founded as a grassroots effort to encourage diverse activities related to personal, local and global peace in observance of the United Nations International Day of Peace, September 21. 

Each year, over 30 peace events are part of Peace Day Philly, most offered by local organizations that are building peace and community every day across Philadelphia and the region. Each year, the Police Department offers over 40 additional peace and community events in neighborhoods throughout the city. PDP encourages organizations to offer an activity that is in keeping with their mission and, when possible, for organizations to collaborate.
