Lia Hyman

Summer Intern

Hailing from the land of the Phillies, Lia’s passion for cross-culturalism comes from a strong advocacy background. She interned with the Philadelphia-based organization, The Humane League (THL), and was the face of the winning campaign against Subway’s inhumane chicken welfare policies. Lia had the pleasure of speaking about her work with THL at TEDxCheltenham before traveling through East Africa during her gap year. Returning back home after her adventures, she interned at the corporate office of Marquis & Co. creating a recycling and composting committee, Waste Warriors, for the fast-food chain HipCityVeg.

Lia is currently an undergraduate student studying Interpersonal Communication and International Business Studies at the University of Delaware. At college, she manages the University of Delaware Hillel Instagram, writing, designing, and posting content. Lia also sits on the executive board of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) as Director of Diversity.

Because of her upbringing in a diverse school district, Lia is passionate about Interfaith Philadelphia’s work on inter-religious understanding. She resides in Elkins Park with her parents, sister, and two cats. In her free time, she attempts yoga, writes songs, drinks too much coffee, practices Italian, manages her own small business, and travels all over the world.
