CLE – Religious Accommodation in the Workplace – LIVE WEBCAST
Hosted by the Philadelphia Bar Association Office of Diversity and Interfaith Philadelphia – 1.0 SUB CLE credit
Workplaces are not immune to polarization in American society, and religious and cultural conflicts have seemingly been on the rise. Religious diversity in the workplace presents both opportunities and challenges, as organizations try to create inclusive work environments that respect varied beliefs and practices. Conflicts may arise over scheduling, dress codes, dietary restrictions, and observance days. When religious and cultural flashpoints occur, employers must have effective strategies to lower the temperature. Promoting understanding, cooperation, and positive relationships between individuals from diverse religious backgrounds will foster a better work environment and help to avoid workplace conflict.
This CLE panel features attorneys who represent different faith traditions, including representatives from the Muslim, Jewish, and Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints faith communities.
Panelists will use case studies to illuminate some religious traditions and how accommodating religious observances will advance the values and practical efficiencies of the organization. Gain insights into ways common scenarios can be applied to your workplaces and those of your clients.
