Father Michael entered the Augustinian Order in 1965, attended Villanova University and the Washington Theological Union and was ordained to the priesthood in 1973. Father Michael spent 29 years in parish ministry in Massachusetts, New York City and Philadelphia, and was also engaged in formation work for the Augustinians. He served, as well, in Rome as Director of Communications for the Order and in 2007 was elected Assistant General of the Augustinians and in 2009 was elected Vicar General. He served as Prior Provincial
of the Province of Saint Thomas of Villanova for two terms beginning in 2014.

Since 2022, he has been a member of the Villanova Monastery community, engaged in research, writing, and part-time sacramental ministry. He has authored several books on the lives of Augustinian saints as well as various articles on Augustinian history.
